You know I love a sockcryptid around here, andsock Mothmanwas such a hit, I thought we could make a SockAbominable Snowman for the festive season. This is a much more DIY or kid-friendly approach to the abominable Bumble from Rudolph. You might remember that I previously built aBumble Butlerfrom my family's used Christmas giftwrap. I love this guy, but that project was a little more complicated. Let's make a sock version!
You'll need a print-out of the template, which you can download FREE below. Everything else you'll need to complete this project can be found at the dollar or discount store. You'll need:

fuzzy socks in light blue or white
fibre-fill or other stuffing
craft felt in various colours
light blue or white pom poms (six)
a bit of white faux fur
one bead
two googly eyes
rocks for weight
dental floss
some thin, sturdy cardboard,
hot glue, white glue, scissors

Step 1
Rough-cut the feet from the paper template, then use some white glue to laminate the paper template onto a scrap of cardboard. Flip the cardboard over, and use white glue to laminate light blue felt onto the back side. Set this assembly aside to dry.

Step 2
Accurately cut the lips, gums, teeth, tongue, and eye mask from the paper template. Trace these onto their respective felt colours and use a sharp pair of scissors to cut them out.

Step 3
Glue gums onto lips, then add teeth and tongue.
Set this assembly aside to dry.
You can set aside the eye-mask piece for now too.

Step 4
Use the template to cut out the Bumble's wig from faux fur. Pay attention to the direction that the fur "grows" when you're cutting.

Step 5
Add a few rocks to the bottom your socks for weight. Add stuffing. Use the stuffing guide on the template to help determine the size to which to stuff your sock.

Step 6
Place a bead between the stuffing and sock. Pinch the fabric around the bead and make a little nose by tying dental floss around the fabric under the bead.
Use dental floss to tie off the top of the sock, right before the bend at the heel. Cut off the sock above the tie.

Step 7
Use hot glue to secure the eye mask above the nose. Hot glue the mouth assembly under the nose. Add the googly eyes onto the eye mask.

Step 8
Accurately cut out the feet from the dried felt-laminated cardboard. Add a blob of hot glue to the back of the feet and set the sock down onto them, balancing the abominable before the glue cools.
Glue a pom pom onto each of the abominable snowman's toes.

Step 9
Use any leftover supplies you have to customize your Abominable Snowman.
I used some extra fur to give my yeti a single eyebrow and a beard. I used a couple pom poms to give him some cute ears!

And there he is! An adorable Abominable Snowman Made of a Sock. Give it a go yourself and make a whole family of Bumbles. You can check out the build video below, or see my other projects over on my YouTube Channel.
